The initiative will forcus specifically on youth who are involved with both the juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
The goal of this progam is to provide collaborative care for dually involved youth (crossover youth) from multiple systems. This collaboration will reduce the barriers between the educational, behavioral health, child welfare and juvenile justice systems. By eliminating these barriers, juveniles will receive services in a timely and effective manner.
This program began in May 2013 and involves direct collaboration with Child Protective Services, Juvenile Probation, Education and the Behaviroal Health Authority. The Project Manager works closely with Georgetown University and a team of researchers during the implementation of the Crossover Youth Court Practice Model in Maricopa County.
